The Kano State House of Assembly has passed four bills into law to establish health colleges across the state.
The bills were passed during Wednesday’s plenary session presided over by the Speaker, Jibril Ismail Falgore, after consideration by the Committee of the Whole and their passage through the third reading.
The bills are the Kano State College of Health Sciences and Technology, Rogo Bill 2026; Kano State College of Health Sciences and Technology Bill 2026; Kano State College of Health Sciences and Technology Bill 2026, Bebeji; and Kano State College of Public Health Sciences Bill 2026.
Speaking after the plenary, the speaker who sponsored one of the bills described the establishment of the college in Rogo as a significant development for the local government, Kano South and the state at large.
Falgore said the institution would promote community development, stimulate economic activities, create employment opportunities and improve healthcare delivery.
He expressed appreciation to Governor Abba Yusuf, his colleagues in the Assembly and other stakeholders for their support in facilitating the passage of the bills.
He urged residents of the area and neighbouring local governments, as well as those from Katsina and Kaduna states, to take advantage of the institution by enrolling in its programmes, noting that the college was open to students from across the country.
In another development, the Assembly called on the state government to construct a road linking Sarina Junction to Sarina town to improve residents’ living conditions and economic activities.
The member representing Garko Constituency, Murtala Kadage, appealed while presenting a motion before the House.
Kadage said the proposed road would improve transportation, ease the movement of people and goods, and enhance the economic well-being of residents in the affected communities.
