Portugal secured a thrilling 4-2 victory over Denmark in their UEFA Nations League League A Group 4 clash, overcoming a spirited fightback to claim all three points.
With captain Cristiano Ronaldo absent, Portugal took the lead after 13 minutes through João Cancelo, who finished from a Gonçalo Ramos assist.
Denmark responded 10 minutes later when Mikkel Damsgaard converted a pass from Joakim Mæhle to level the contest at 1-1.
Portugal restored their advantage in the 25th minute, with Ramos finding the net after being set up by Bruno Fernandes to give the visitors a 2-1 lead at half-time.
Denmark refused to surrender and drew level again eight minutes into the second half. Rasmus Højlund finished from Damsgaard’s assist in the 53rd minute to make it 2-2.
Portugal regained control in the 67th minute when Vitinha struck after another assist from Fernandes.
The visitors then survived late pressure before João Félix put the result beyond doubt in the 87th minute, converting from a Diogo Dalot assist to complete Portugal’s 4-2 victory.
The six-goal encounter produced a dramatic second half, with both sides trading attacking blows before Portugal’s greater efficiency in front of goal proved decisive.
Portugal’s victory keeps them firmly involved in the battle for the top positions in Group 4, while Denmark will have to regroup after surrendering their advantage twice during the contest.
