Operatives of the Kwara State Police Command have rescued the traditional ruler of Igbesi community in Isin Local Government Area of the state, Oba Moses Oyinloye, who was abducted by armed bandits on August 22, 2026.
LEADERSHIP recalls that the monarch was abducted when armed bandits invaded Igbesi community on the said date.
While some sources had claimed that other residents were kidnapped alongside the monarch, the state Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, had said Oba Oyinloye was the only person abducted during the attack.
However, sources in Igbesi community told LEADERSHIP yesterday that the monarch had been rescued alongside two other victims.
The sources said the rescue operation was carried out by policemen from the Oro Division with the support of members of a local vigilance group.
When contacted, Adekimi confirmed that police operatives in the Kwara South axis had rescued the monarch from the kidnappers’ hideout.
He said the monarch was receiving treatment at a hospital in Oro, Irepodun Local Government Area of the state.
“Yes, the Onigbesi has been rescued by the policemen from the kidnappers’ hideout. He’s receiving treatment at a hospital in Oro. This is all I can tell you for now,” Adekimi said.
Igbesi is a community within Oke-Onigbin town in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State and falls under the Kwara South Senatorial District.
A palace source had last Sunday told LEADERSHIP that the monarch was abducted alongside some other residents during the attack.
“As of now, the exact number of victims and the whereabouts of the abducted monarch remained unclear,” the source had said.
