The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of a 50-year-old man, Jude Thaddeus, popularly known as Musa, whose decomposed body was recovered from a dry well in his residence.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel.
According to Nansel, the victim, a resident of Aku Village, Base 5, Karu Local Government Area, was reported missing by his younger sister, Jennifer Alain, 46, of Mpape, Abuja, on 3rd November 2026, at Aso Pada Division.
Nansel said Alain told police that her brother had been unreachable, and that an unidentified person kept answering his phone.
He said detectives swung into action and arrested Yusuf Musa, 23, who was engaged by the deceased about three months earlier to look after his domestic animals.
According to the PPRO, preliminary investigation showed the deceased had been missing since 22nd October 2026, while the suspect allegedly took possession of his phone and deceived callers by claiming his supposed father had travelled to England.
Nansel added that the suspect was also alleged to have been selling the deceased’s belongings, domestic animals and other properties, including heavy metals and industrial engines valued at ₦3,400,000.
He said during interrogation, Yusuf Musa allegedly confessed to the killing and led detectives to the dry well where the body was dumped, set ablaze and sealed with blocks to conceal the crime.
The remains were exhumed with the help of environmental services personnel and evacuated to the Medical Centre, Mararaba, where a doctor certified him dead, Nansel stated.
The PPRO said the second suspect arrested is Victor Zamani, 32. He added that two receivers of the stolen items were also arrested, while a third suspect is still at large.
Nansel said the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohamed, has ordered the case transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Lafia, for comprehensive investigation and prosecution.
He said the CP commended the detectives for their diligence and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the police.
