The Telangana Anti Narcotics Bureau (TGANB) officials caught a key drug supplier, Ezeonyili Franklin Uchenna alias Kaleshi, who had been evading police for over a year.
According to police officials, the Nigerian national was apprehended at Ibrahimbagh, following a tip-off that he had arrived in the city from Bengaluru.
Police recovered 17 grams of MDMA from his possession.
Initially, Kaleshi denied carrying any drugs, but a search revealed the contraband hidden in his pocket. He was caught while waiting to deliver the drug to a contact.
During interrogation, the police recovered a pen drive from the accused, which contained significant evidence, including photographs, names of 411 Africans, receipts, and other documents pertaining to drug trade operations.
On verifying the UPI payments stored in the pen drive, investigators found that Kaleshi and his associates had conducted drug transactions worth Rs 9.50 crore.
Police said Kaleshi was working for one Divine Ebuka Suzee and his girlfriend Uche Happiness, who are currently absconding. Acting on their directions, Kaleshi came to Hyderabad in Sept 2022 to engage in drug peddling. His primary responsibility was to collect drugs in bulk from transporters like Joana Gomes, alias Blessing, who sourced drugs from Delhi.
However, a few months ago, Blessing was caught by Narsingi police while attempting to deliver drugs.
Following her arrest, Kaleshi fled to Bengaluru and continued his operations from there, maintaining records of payment receipts in a pen drive, which he shared with Ebuka.
It is learnt that Kaleshi was caught based on the vital leads provided by Ugwu Ikechukwu and Chukwu Ogbonna, who were nabbed by the bureau officials earlier. Kaleshi has four criminal cases registered against him, including one in Bengaluru.
