‎Son Allegedly Hacks Mother To Death In Ondo Community

‎A 23-year-old man, Samuel Akoade, has been arrested by the Ondo State Police Command over the alleged killing of his 60-year-old mother, Mrs Olufunke Amoo, in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

‎The incident happened on Sunday, at the deceased’s residence in the Powerline area, along the Ore-Okitipupa Road, where she was reportedly discovered in a pool of blood.

‎The police said the woman had suffered deep machete wounds and was already dead when she was found.

‎Following the report, operatives attached to the Ore Division rushed to the scene, secured the area and commenced preliminary investigation into the incident.

‎A machete suspected to have been used in the attack was recovered, while the scene was photographed and documented by the police.

‎The suspect, who was initially identified only as Samuel, reportedly fled before the arrival of the police but was later arrested following sustained efforts by the operatives.

‎Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, said, “The suspect was subsequently arrested and taken into police custody, while the remains of the deceased have been deposited at the mortuary. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Akure, for further investigation.”

‎The Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, has directed that the investigation be conducted thoroughly and professionally to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing and ensure that anyone found culpable is brought to justice.

‎The police said the suspect remains in custody as investigators work to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death, while urging members of the public to provide timely information on suspicious activities in their communities.
