Popular Nigerian internet streamer Habeeb Hamzat, widely known as Peller, has been released from police custody after being detained for five days over an alleged altercation with public officers.
The content creator’s management firm, City Plug, confirmed his release in an official statement on Wednesday. Peller was originally detained following the circulation of a roadside video showing an argument between him and police personnel in the Lekki area of Lagos. Reports indicate the encounter began when officers stopped his vehicle for driving with tinted windows and lacking visible identification plates.
His management stated that the streamer has returned home in good health and has since resumed his regular content creation activities. However, the firm emphasised that his release does not mark the conclusion of the matter, noting that the formal legal process surrounding the incident remains active and ongoing.
While fans expressed relief over his release, several social media commentators urged the young entertainer to maintain professional conduct when interacting with law enforcement agencies in the future.
