Manchester United have withdrawn from their proposed move for Atalanta midfielder Ederson after fresh concerns emerged over the Brazilian’s fitness.
The Premier League club reportedly decided to abandon the transfer after arranging further medical assessments raised doubts about the midfielder’s long-term knee condition.
The concerns centre on Ederson’s recent meniscus injury and the possibility of recurring problems, prompting United to end negotiations.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the development on X, writing:

“Atalanta are ready to welcome back their midfielder believing he’s fully fit and ready to play.
“Manchester United will still sign at least another midfielder after Andrey Santos.”
Despite Atalanta’s confidence in the player’s fitness, United have opted to pursue alternative midfield targets as they continue strengthening their squad ahead of the new season.
