Legendary Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler, famous for her iconic husky voice and the global hit “Have I Ever Loved You,” has passed away at the age of 75 in Portugal.
Her family and management team confirmed her passing in an official statement, noting that she died unexpectedly in a Portuguese hospital following an illness. The singer had been receiving medical care after undergoing emergency surgery for a perforated intestine in April.
Born Gaynor Hopkins in South Wales, Tyler rose to international prominence in the late 1970s and 1980s, achieving massive global success with chart-topping tracks including “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” “It’s a Heartache,” and “Holding Out for a Hero.” Over a career spanning five decades, she earned three Grammy Award nominations and was awarded an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in 2023 for her contributions to music.
