As part of the ongoing Idoma Centenary Plus Celebration, marking over a century since the establishment of the Idoma Division, organisers have launched the Idoma Talent Hunt (ITH). This flagship youth empowerment initiative aims to discover, nurture, and promote exceptional talents from across Idoma land and the diaspora, aligning with the centenary’s theme: “From Idoma Division to Benue South Senatorial Zone: Honouring Our Century, Forging Our Future.”
Conceived as a lasting legacy of the celebration, the ITH reflects a commitment to honouring past achievements while investing in the creativity and innovation of future generations. Arc. Ene Ijegwa Adaji, Director General of the Idoma Centenary Plus Celebration, and Engr. Emmanuel Adakole Otene, Chairman of the Youths and Innovation Committee, described the programme as a strategic investment in the future of the Idoma nation.
The nationwide audition tour will begin in Abuja on Friday, 10th July and Saturday, 11th July 2026, at Merit House, No. 22 Aguiyi Ironsi Street, Maitama. Auditions will then move to Lagos on Saturday, 8th August and Sunday, 9th August 2026, with the final stage in Otukpo on Friday, 21st August and Saturday, 22nd August 2026. Venues for Lagos and Otukpo will be announced shortly.
Successful contestants will progress to the Grand Finale on 26th December 2026, competing for one of the region’s most attractive prize packages. The overall winner will receive a brand new car, a professional management deal, and collaboration opportunities to launch a successful career in the creative industry. The first runner-up will receive ₦2.5 million, and the second runner-up ₦1.5 million.
The Talent Hunt is open to gifted young people with exceptional abilities in music, dance, drama, comedy, spoken word, instrumental performance, and other creative disciplines. Beyond the prizes, participants will gain exposure to accomplished professionals, producers, talent scouts, and investors, offering mentorship, professional guidance, strategic networking, and vital visibility.
The Idoma Talent Hunt is positioned as more than just a competition; it is an investment in the future of the Idoma nation, designed to uncover hidden talents, celebrate excellence, strengthen cultural identity, and empower Idoma youths to compete on national and international stages.
Organisers urge talented individuals of Idoma origin to participate in the auditions. They also appeal to parents, traditional and educational institutions, youth organisations, and community leaders to identify, encourage, and support gifted young people to seize this unique opportunity.
The Idoma Centenary Plus Celebration is led by Professor Yakubu Ochefu, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, with Chief Dr Paul Edeh serving as Secretary.
