Nasarawa State governor, Abdullahi Sule has commended the state’s 2026 Hajj contingent for their exemplary conduct during the pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia, describing the delegation as a model for other states.
The governor spoke on Tuesday in Lafia while receiving the official 2026 Hajj report from the leader of the state’s government delegation, Justice Aisha Mohammed Usman, who is also the Chief Judge of Nasarawa State.
“I thank every one of you for your contributions. What you achieved during this year’s Hajj is not hidden. People across Nigeria have read the reports and many have called to say Nasarawa should be used as an example,” Governor Sule said.
He singled out the pre-Hajj orientation of pilgrims as a key factor in the contingent’s success. “One of the most important aspects is the education of our pilgrims. We ensured that every one of them knew what to do. Many people go to Hajj and return without really understanding the rites,” he added.
On the delegation’s request for a new operational ambulance, Governor Sule assured that the government would consider the proposal to improve emergency health response for pilgrims during future Hajj exercises.
Earlier, Justice Usman expressed gratitude to the governor for his support, noting that Nasarawa’s 1,500 pilgrims enjoyed prime accommodation in both Mecca and Medina this year.
“We appreciate you because, as usual, we had the best accommodation. Nasarawa was the state with the closest lodging to the Haram — just eight to ten minutes’ walk,” she said.
Justice Usman, speaking on behalf of the pilgrims, also thanked Governor Sule for his interventions in accommodation and welfare, which she said contributed to a smooth and spiritually fulfilling Hajj for the state’s contingent.
