Governing Council of Federal University, Gusau in Zamfara State has approved the promotion of 12 professors and 12 readers to strengthen academic excellence, scholarship and institutional development.
A statement signed by Jamailu Ibrahim Gusau, chief information and public relations officer of the university, said “the Governing Council of Federal University Gusau (FUGUS) has approved the promotion of 12 academic staff to the rank of professor, and 12 others to the rank of reader.
It said the approvals were part of the far-reaching decisions reached at the 34th Regular Meeting of the Council held in Abuja on 8th July, 2026. Among those promoted to the rank of professors are Sheu Adaramaja Lukman, Dr Abubakar Adamu Mastma, Dr Ja’afar Agaji Abdullahi, Dr Taofiki Aminu, Dr Linus Akor Yusuf, and Hashir Umar Faruk, among others.
The pro-chancellor and chairman of council, Rt. Hon. Aminu Sani Isa, congratulated them and urged them to consider their elevation not only as a recognition of past achievements but also as a call to greater commitment, higher responsibility, diligence and selfless service to the University and the Society at large. Gusau said all the promotions take effect from 1 January 2026.
