The Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Delta State, Mr Obuseh Felix, has described the restoration of Prof Abubakar Gombe as the party’s National Chairman by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as a welcome development.
He described it as a demonstration of the SDP’s resilience and strength as a political institution.
Speaking with journalists in Asaba, Obuseh commended INEC for respecting the SDP’s autonomy and officially recognising Prof. Gombe as the party’s National Chairman.
According to Obuseh, the party has consistently defended its rights and democratic principles, making it one of the country’s most resilient political parties.
He reaffirmed the SDP’s commitment to promoting social welfare, restoring Nigerians’ dignity, and advancing policies that improve citizens’ living standards nationwide.
“The vision of the SDP is to rebuild public confidence in governance and position Nigeria as a nation where every citizen can thrive regardless of social status,” he said.
The Delta SDP chairman also commended party members and supporters for their steadfastness and loyalty despite the challenges the party has faced in recent times.
He urged party faithful to remain united and focused on the collective goal of strengthening the SDP ahead of future elections.
Obuseh further called on Prof. Gombe to seize the opportunity presented by his restoration to reposition the party and strengthen its structures nationwide in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
He expressed confidence that with unity, effective leadership, and unwavering commitment to the party’s ideals, the SDP would emerge stronger and more competitive in Nigeria’s political landscape.
