Nigerian music icon Dbanj turned heads at his star-studded birthday soiree on Victoria Island on Thursday when he surprised skit maker Carter Efe, along with collaborators Berri Tiga and Trinity, with a brand-new car.
The moment, captured on video, showed an elated Carter Efe jumping for joy. But not everyone was celebrating.
The generous gesture quickly drew fire online, with critics arguing the money would have been better spent on the less privileged. âThe needy or SOS Homes â donating to them wonât be a bad idea,â one user wrote. Others called it âmisplaced priorities.â
Some took a more sardonic angle. âShey Carter Efe use jazz for una,â one commenter quipped, referencing the skit makerâs apparent knack for attracting high-profile gifts.
The car comes just a month after Carter Efeâs own headline moment, which was the unveiling of a new mansion, which he credited partly to music star Davido.
He used the occasion to take a pointed swipe at TikToker Peller, who had previously mocked him for not owning a home.
