Kano State governor, Abba Yusuf, has endorsed his deputy, Murtala Garo, as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election, reaffirming their partnership ahead of the next electoral cycle.
The decision was announced during a strategic meeting with federal political appointees of President Bola Tinubu at the Kano Governor’s Lodge in Abuja, according to a statement issued on Monday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa.
Explaining the choice, Yusuf said Garo had earned his confidence through his loyalty, dedication and contributions to the administration since assuming office as deputy governor.
The governor described his deputy as a dependable partner who had consistently demonstrated competence, commitment and responsibility in the discharge of his duties.
“I have no regrets for choosing Garo as my Deputy in the last few months, and he has proven to be the right choice so far. I want to confirm to you that I have every confidence in him,” Yusuf said.
He noted that Garo’s support had played a significant role in advancing the administration’s development agenda and fulfilling its campaign promises to the people of Kano State.
“His contributions have been remarkable, and his commitment to the progress of Kano State has remained unquestionable. Together, we will continue to work towards achieving the goals we set for our people,” the governor added.
Yusuf also called on party leaders, political appointees and supporters to remain united as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
“We must remain focused, united and committed as we continue to build on the progress recorded by this administration and prepare for the challenges ahead,” he said.
