2027: Ex-IGP Adamu has grassroots support to win Nasarawa governorship race — Lawmaker

Member representing Nasarawa Eggon East Constituency in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Mr Jacob Kudu, says former Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, will win the Nasarawa governorship seat in 2027.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the ex-IGP is contesting under the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Kudu, who is also the Chairman of the House Committee on Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC), spoke to journalists on Thursday in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area.
According to him, Adamu has the experience, qualifications, and grassroots support needed to win the 2027 governorship election.
“The former IGP, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, is on the ground. He has the people and enjoys grassroots support.
“Ex-IGP Adamu has done a lot across the 13 local government areas of the state and has empowered many people.
“It is only God that can stop him from winning the governorship election in Nasarawa State come 2027. He will win,” Kudu assured.
The lawmaker also announced plans to join the SDP in the state.
“I was rigged out during the APC primaries. There was no primary election in my constituency.
“I reported my complaint to the APC Appeal Committee, but nothing was done. I have since resigned from the APC and plan to join the SDP. I will make an official declaration soon.
“By God’s grace, the former IGP Adamu will win, and I will also win in 2027,” he vowed.
Kudu said he delivered three wards in his constituency to Mr Labaran Maku, the Labour Party senatorial candidate in the recent Nasarawa North bye-election.
“Some people said I was not on the ground in my area, but I delivered my ward and others for Hon. Labaran Maku to prove them wrong,” he said.
He explained that the SDP had no senatorial candidate in the bye-election, so he and his supporters backed the Labour Party candidate.
“People worked for and supported Hon. Labaran Maku, but he was rigged out. There were many irregularities during the bye-election,” he revealed.
Kudu urged his constituents to support the former IGP Adamu and the SDP to win elections in the state come 2027.
He also pledged to sustain quality representation at the state assembly.
“I have done my best in employment, empowerment, water, health, education, and project delivery, among others.
“By God’s grace, I will do more for the overall development of my constituency,” he pledged.
