Nollywood stars have declared today, the 14th of May 2023, as a black Sunday as the movie industry loses two actors, Murphy Afolabi and another actor who works behind the scenes.

Many have taken to their timelines to share dark images to mourn the deaths of their colleagues.

Actor Murphy Afolabi’sdeath came as a shock to many as the actor recently marked his 49th birthday on the 5th of May. Reports by Seun Oloketuyi claimed the actor lost his life after slipping on bathroom tiles.

Nollywood actors in a day , stating it is indeed a black day for them.

She wrote, “ Haaaaaa 2 people in Nollywood Yah Allah. It’s a black Sunday. We belong to Allah, and to Him we shall return!”

Nollywood artistes, including Adeniyi Johnson, Papa Show, Biola Bayo, Damola Olatunji, Sam Olatunji, Yinka Solomon, Mercy Aigbe, Kemi Korede and a host of others mourned their colleagues’ death on social media.

Damola Olatunji wrote: “Murphy, but why? we all celebrated your birthday on the 5th of May, not knowing it was you saying goodbye.

Vanity upon vanity-everything we do is ‘vanity’: empty, futile, and short-lived. It doesn’t matter if you’re wise or a fool, ultimately, because everyone ends up dying. Rest on bruv. Sunnnre ooo.”
